Strengthen cross sector collaboration & coordination
Develop practical approaches to facilitate continuous communication and collaboration across human, animal, and environmental sectors (One Health approach)
Augment patient care and treatment
Strengthen patient care in rural and remote areas by evaluating the geographical and social position of health facilities in these regions, and information flow with regional and national health authorities
Expand rabies surveillance into hard-to-reach areas
Augment the role of community health and animal health workers in rabies surveillance, and deploy field-based diagnostic testing to overcome challenges linked to underreporting
Understand rabies epidemiology to inform control efforts
Understand socio-economic and environmental factors influencing rabies transmission and maintenance to guide surveillance and vaccination efforts
Augment and strategize dog vaccination efforts
Identify factors influencing the possibility of attaining the 70% vaccination coverage necessary to control rabies in dog populations, and develop sustainable approaches to overcome these challenges
Establish a cohesive framework for sustainable large-scale control
Expand approaches developed in the two pilot sites to other regions across Cameroon and other context-appropriate countries
